Why a Course on Networking?
Successful people in business have always known the importance of networking.
In fact, more than just in business, people who have fulfilled and happy lives are usually that way because they are good at or at least comfortable networking with others.
Thanks to advances in technology, improvements in communication, mobile communications and growth in use of things like social networking applications, networking is no longer something only a relatively small section of the population understands, it’s now much bigger – but as important as ever.
In fact, effective networking is more important than ever.
Networking should be the easiest and most natural thing in the world.
It should be easy.
Unfortunately it isn’t always and many people do it very badly.
So networking, like anything, can be done effectively or not – and as the tools for networking make it easier for everybody, so the art of networking is clouded by the masses.
Because it’s understood by more people, it’s expected by more people, and therefore networking is also more likely to be explicitly mentioned as a skill you’re expected to have in your job.
…it’s now much bigger and more important than ever.
This is why we have put together this course on Networking – and it’s deliberately a course because to make the changes you need to make to become an effective networker, simple as they are in concept, you may need to change some behaviors (for which we have exercises) and you may need to have some support along the way (which is provided as part of the course).
What Does It Look Like?
The course is divided into four separate modules which are sent to you each week following sign-up. These modules are as follows:
Module 1:The Secret to Great Networking
Module 2: The Do’s and Don’ts of Networking
Module 3: Networking Events (and what to do instead)
Module 4: Managing Your Network
Here are a couple of screen shots of the kind of thing you’ll see when you log in to the course (these are the top of the page and the bottom of the page from the first week’s module):
As you can see from the screen shots there are a number of exercises to complete following this first module (3 of them) and both video and audio versions of the core material.
Who Is The Better Networking e-Course For?
What about if you’re not a salesperson, nor a consultant of any kind, but just a ‘regular’ person? Is networking still important?
The answer is YES.
Networking can get you the career move to a different more interesting area you didn’t even know existed, let alone finding out it was something you were even better at than your current job and would enjoy more.
It can get you invited to social events that you didn’t know about (“I didn’t know that the company had a golfing association”), it can get you extra plaudits, testimonials and referrals which will impress your significant others and it can get you contacts which may not be useful right away but will save you a great deal of time and energy at some point in the future when you find out that their knowledge and skills help you to perform a certain task in 5 minutes instead of 2 days.
The good news is that once you’ve taken this course you will see that anyone can be a great networker.
It doesn’t require any special skills or pre-requisites, anyone can do it.
