Relaxation: Can’t Relax? Here Are 4 Tips To Help… — 4 Comments

  1. This is a great post – I agree, relaxing can be so stressful! I find the hardest thing is trying to relax (because you’ve set aside the time) when you’ve got something for work that you could be doing instead? I think the biggest problem is that it gets put way down at the bottom of the priorities list. However, relaxing yields SO many benefits, it’s just tricky to get in the habit of doing if you love being busy and/or love your job.

    • Hi Annabelle,
You hit the nail on the head there: if you love being busy or love your job, it makes it a lot more difficult to prioritise relaxing. I know lots of people say they’ll slow down when they’re dead but, in my experience, unfortunately that’s often a recipe for disaster (long term stress, panic attacks, …).
Thanks a lot for your comment and best wishes.

      • I agree – it’s kind of a vicious cycle I guess! The consequences can be so harsh considering stress can cause heart disease, stroke etc.

        • It is a tough situation indeed: if you don’t take some time off to relax, stress will likely take its toll but for some people, relaxing will just make them feel guilty (uncomfortable, not in control,…) about not working and will stress them more…
Like you point out, stress can lead to serious health issues. So it pays to find a way to learn to slow down and relax that doesn’t lead to more stress!
