Most of Your Barriers Come From… YOU
Do you get stuck?
Do you feel like you are unable to cope? Unable to manage everything? Got too much going on? Not the right person for this? On the wrong path? Haven’t found your true calling? Should be somewhere else? In the wrong place?…
Where do all of these limiting beliefs come from?
That’s right, they all come from you.
What’s worse than that, none of it is true.
Correction – it is true. It is scarily true as long as that’s what you’re going to tell yourself, but by the same token any of the above can be reversed, so the opposite can also be true.
How about this for size:
I can cope with anything that’s thrown at me, I can manage everything if I put my mind to it and get a bit more organised, I love having so much going on, I love what I’m doing/where I am…
That’s right, you can choose to think differently.
… and as if by magic, your whole world will change.
Let’s take your ‘calling’. Thinking there is a given ‘calling’ for you is a belief that is holding you back. You can do anything you set your mind to and make any ‘calling’ your calling (in fact better just to drop the word ‘calling’), any path your path. You can do anything you set your mind to.
Stop second-guessing what path you should be on. Instead, make a move, whatever move you like, even if you’re unsure, see where that takes you, do so confidently, with passion, with enthusiasm, because there are no ‘wrong’ choices. Do this and you will get feedback which tells you what to do next. All you need to do then is keep going (aka stop worrying and enjoy the path you’re on, right now).
We all have moments of doubt – that is only human but it is also human to have a tremendous capacity to accept and move past those doubts. We have an idea of who we are, where we’ve come from, maybe even what we’re good at and what we’re not good at. The truth of the matter though is that the past is an illusion, it does not exist any more. Who we are is also an illusion, our ‘identity’ is mostly self-imposed and what we’re good at/not good at is just what we tell ourselves. The truth is we can be good at anything we decide to be good at, it may take some work to get there but we are more than capable to have and do what it takes.
That’s a good thing because it means we can re-invent ourselves and move forward every hour of every day.
This also means that the barriers we impose upon ourselves can be dropped any time we like. We just have to be bold enough to do it.
I’ve said it before but the present is all we have so the best thing we can do is to live in it, do something with it and move along happily to the next moment.
